9、常用在身體部分的名詞前。如：

　　They pulled her by the hair. 他們扯她的頭發(fā)。

　　She caught me by the arm.. 她抓住了我的手臂。

　　He hit me on the chin. 他沖我下巴打了一拳。

　　10、用在表示樂器的名詞之前。例如：

　　She likes to plays the piano.　她會彈鋼琴。

　　11、用在姓氏的復數(shù)名詞之前，表示一家人。例如：

　　The Greens are coming to see us. 格林一家人要來看望我們。

　　12、定冠詞在句子中最大的語法功能是對名詞加以限定，使其成為具有某種意義的特定名詞。這種"特定意義"通過比較是不難看出的。例：

　　Here are the records you want. 這些是你要的唱片。

　　I bought some records yesterday. 昨天我買了幾張唱片。

　　Have you decided on the prices yet? 價格你們確定了嗎?

　　13、用于某些詞組中。這種用法是約定束成的，我們只有遵從而無旁的選擇。

　　in the morning ( afternoon , evening )上午(下午，晚上)

　　go to the cinema 看電影 on the whole總體上

　　on the other hand 另一方面 on the contrary 相反

　　in the past 在過去 to tell the truth 說實話

　　the same as 和……一樣 out of the question不可能的

　　by the way 順便說一下 go to the theatre去看戲
